Work out what you actually used
Pull last quarter's credit usage. Most teams reveal far fewer contacts than their plan covers, and the unused half is the real price of the subscription.
Rebuild the list from LinkedIn
Filter by the firmographics that describe a customer you already closed. Pull the contacts, verify every address, and keep bounces under 2 percent.
Warm the inboxes you own
Connect your own SMTP and ramp gradually. Two or three mailboxes per domain, 30 to 50 emails each per day, is the pattern experienced senders keep to.

How much does Cognism cost?
Cognism does not say. Checked in July 2026, its pricing page names two Sales Prospecting plans, Standard and Pro, each including five seats, plus two add-on products called CRM Enrichment and Data-as-a-Service. It states that pricing is tailored to the product you need, your team setup, and how you plan to use the platform, and it asks you to book a demo. There is no dollar figure anywhere on the page.
That is a deliberate and entirely legitimate way to sell enterprise data, and it has one consequence worth understanding before your first call: every Cognism price you have read online came from a third party, not from Cognism. Reviews, roundups, and comparison posts quote numbers with real confidence. None of them are the vendor's published price, because there is no published price.
What the page does tell you is the pricing model, and the model is the thing to negotiate. Cognism sells credits, where one credit reveals one contact. So your effective cost per usable contact is not the number on the contract, it is the number on the contract divided by the contacts you actually revealed and actually emailed. Teams routinely buy a credit pool sized for the list they imagined and use a third of it.
The single most useful question you can ask on that first call is the one the pricing page cannot answer for you: what is the annual number, and what is the renewal uplift. Ask both before you talk about features.
Why teams look for a Cognism alternative
Three reasons come up repeatedly, and only one of them is about price.
The first is that the credits do not convert into meetings. A revealed contact is an address and a phone number. It is not a warm lead, and it is not even necessarily a deliverable address, because contact databases go stale as people change jobs. If nothing downstream of the database is working, buying more contacts makes the problem larger rather than smaller.
The second is the seat model. Standard and Pro both bundle five seats. For a two-person founding team, or an agency where one person runs outbound for every client, that is three seats of pure overhead.

When you should keep Cognism
Keep it if mobile numbers drive your pipeline. If a rep's day is dials and connect rates, a database with strong phone coverage is doing work that no email tool replaces, and ColdMailer has no phone data at all.
Keep it if your buyers are not visible on LinkedIn. Some industries, plenty of them profitable, are barely represented there. Scraping cannot find people who are not on the platform, and a licensed database can.
Keep it if compliance review already cleared the vendor. Swapping a data supplier that legal has signed off on, to save a few thousand dollars, is rarely the highest-value thing an outbound team can do with a quarter.
