Is GMass Good for Cold Email? Send Limits, Plans and Deliverability

GMass costs $39.95 a month for the cheapest plan that can send a follow-up sequence, but the limit that stops your campaign is Google's 500 to 2,000 emails a day, not GMass's.

GMass is good for low volume cold email run by one person inside Gmail, and awkward for anything larger. It costs $39.95 a month for the cheapest plan that can send a follow-up sequence, and $59.95 for the plan that can rotate sending across several mailboxes. The limit that stops you is not GMass's, it is Google's: 500 emails a day from a free Gmail account and 2,000 a day from Google Workspace.

That last point is the one worth sitting with, because every GMass plan advertises unlimited emails and the word is doing a lot of work. GMass genuinely does not meter your sending on the Gmail path. Google does, and Google's ceiling is the one your campaign hits.

Is GMass good for cold email?

For a solo founder or a single rep sending a few hundred personalized emails a month from Gmail, yes. GMass is fast to set up, it lives in the compose window you already use, and it bundles email verification that would otherwise be a separate subscription. For a team pushing thousands of cold emails a month across many mailboxes, it fights you, because the architecture ties sending to Google accounts that each carry a hard daily cap.

The honest summary is that GMass is an excellent Gmail mail merge tool that can do cold email, rather than a cold email platform that happens to use Gmail. Whether that distinction matters depends entirely on your volume.

Which GMass plan do you actually need for cold email?

The cheapest GMass plan cannot run a cold email campaign. Standard at $29.95 a month does not include sequences and follow-ups, and a cold campaign without follow-ups forfeits most of its replies, since the second and third touches are where a large share of responses arrive. Your real entry price is Premium.

PlanMonthlyCan it run cold email?
Standard$29.95No. Sequences and follow-ups are not included.
Premium$39.95Yes, with sequences, A/B testing and API access, but no inbox rotation.
Professional$59.95Yes, and adds Inbox Rotation (MultiSend) for spreading sends across mailboxes.

Team plans start at $175 a month for 5 users and all carry the Professional feature set. The full ladder, the annual rates and the per user maths are broken down on our GMass pricing page.

What is the GMass daily sending limit?

GMass imposes no daily limit on paid plans. Google does, and GMass publishes the numbers itself: 500 emails a day from a free Gmail account and 2,000 a day from a Google Workspace account. GMass also notes that across more than 700,000 accounts it has seen Google throttle sending below those published figures.

Across 22 business days that works out to roughly 11,000 emails a month from a free Gmail account and about 44,000 from Workspace. Those are ceilings for any mail, not targets for cold mail, which is a distinction that catches people out.

How many cold emails can you actually send with GMass?

Far fewer than Google's ceiling, and the gap is not close. Cold outreach deliverability caps a mailbox nearer 30 sends a day, roughly 660 a month, because a cold sender that suddenly pushes hundreds of unsolicited messages from one address collects spam complaints and gets filtered. The 2,000 a day number describes what Google permits, not what a cold domain survives.

So the practical planning number for GMass, or any tool sending through Gmail, is about 660 cold emails per mailbox per month. Reaching 10,000 a month means running around 16 mailboxes across 6 sending domains. That is the arithmetic that decides your bill, not the plan you pick.

What does GMass really cost once you add mailboxes?

GMass sells software. The mailboxes and domains are yours to buy, and at cold email volumes they cost more than the subscription. At $7.00 per Google Workspace seat on annual billing and about $11.08 a year for a .com domain:

Monthly volumeInfrastructure neededAll in monthly cost
5,000 emails8 mailboxes, 3 domains ($58.77)$118.72
10,000 emails16 mailboxes, 6 domains ($117.54)$177.49

Both rows assume GMass Professional at $59.95, because inbox rotation is not optional once you are running more than a couple of mailboxes. Notice that infrastructure is 50 to 66 percent of the total. That ratio holds no matter which sending tool you buy, which is why per-inbox seat fees hurt so much and why we do not charge them.

Does GMass charge extra for SMTP sending?

Yes, above a free allowance. GMass can send through an SMTP service instead of Gmail, and the first 10,000 emails a month on that path are free, after which it charges $5 per 10,000 sent. That applies to your own SMTP account as well as to GMass's in-house servers, and it is billed on top of the plan.

This route sidesteps Google's daily cap entirely, which makes it the more scalable option, and it barely appears in comparison articles because it is not printed on the plan cards. If you are weighing sending routes generally, we compared the providers in detail on best SMTP for cold email and SMTP email sender.

What is GMass MultiSend?

MultiSend is GMass's inbox rotation feature. It automatically distributes a single campaign across several connected Gmail or Workspace accounts so no one mailbox carries the whole send, and GMass says there is no cap on how many extra accounts you can attach to a paid plan. It requires the $59.95 Professional plan or a team plan.

For cold email this is the feature that makes GMass viable at all beyond a few hundred sends. Without it you are pushing an entire campaign through one address, which is the fastest way to land in spam. If you are still deciding whether Gmail is the right sending route at all, we worked through that in can you send cold email from Gmail.

Where GMass is the wrong buy

Three situations, and they are all structural rather than fixable with a bigger plan.

You are not on Google. GMass is a Chrome extension built into the Gmail interface. Microsoft 365 teams do not get the core product, only the metered SMTP path, so most Outlook buyers end up comparing a GMass alternative instead.

You need real volume. Past roughly 10,000 cold emails a month the Workspace seat count climbs faster than any plan saving, because each seat carries only about 660 safe cold sends.

You want one tool for mixed infrastructure. If some sending happens from Workspace, some from Microsoft 365 and some from a dedicated SMTP host, GMass makes you split that across two billing models. Once a campaign starts producing replies at that scale, getting each one routed to the right rep quickly matters more than the send volume ever did.

The verdict

GMass is good for cold email at small scale and priced fairly for it. Premium at $39.95 buys sequences, A/B testing and an API, which is genuinely cheap for what it is, and the bundled verification is real money saved. Buy it if you work in Gmail, send in the low thousands, and want something running this afternoon.

Look elsewhere if you send from Microsoft 365, need to mix mailbox types in one campaign, or expect to pass 10,000 emails a month, because at that point Google's per account limits, not the software, decide what you can do. ColdMailer sends through Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or any SMTP host you control, with follow-up sequences on every plan from $29 a month and no per-inbox seat fees.
