MailerSend Pricing Plans and Cost Per 1,000 Emails at Every Volume
MailerSend costs $7 a month for 5,000 emails on Hobby, $35 for 50,000 on Starter and $110 for 50,000 on Professional, with 10% off for paying yearly. The free plan sends 500 emails a month. Its terms rule out purchased or third-party lists, so if the job is cold outreach, price a tool that sends from your own inbox instead.
Prices read from MailerSend's own pricing page, plan data and terms of use. Cost per 1,000, yearly totals and upgrade thresholds are our arithmetic.

What MailerSend actually bills you for
Emails per month, in volume steps
Each paid plan is sold as a monthly email allowance. Starter steps are 50,000, 100,000, 250,000, 500,000 and 1 million. Professional adds 1.5 million and 2 million. You pay the step price whether or not you use it all.
Extra emails in blocks of 1,000
Sending past the allowance does not stop your mail. It is billed at $1.50 per 1,000 on Hobby and $1.30 on the lower Starter and Professional steps, falling to $0.50 at Professional's top step.
Seats, domains and templates by tier
Starter allows 5 seats, 10 sending domains and 250 templates. Professional makes all three unlimited. The free plan allows 1 domain, 1 template and 1 user plus an accountant role.
Activity data retention
Starter keeps 7 days of searchable activity, Professional 30 days. Retention up to 365 days is an add-on priced from $5.00 a month.
SMS and verification bundled in
Starter and Professional include SMS for the US and Canada and email verification credits that grow with the volume step, from 100 SMS and 100 credits on Starter at 50,000 emails.
Optional add-ons
Extra domain spaces at $4.00, phone numbers at $2.00, DMARC monitoring at $2.00 per domain. Dedicated IPs are Enterprise only, for senders above 100,000 emails a week.
MailerSend and ColdMailer are bought for different jobs
Both put email on the wire, which is why they get compared. MailerSend sends the transactional and opt-in mail your product generates. ColdMailer writes and sends first-touch outreach from your own inbox.
| Feature | ColdMailer | MailerSend |
|---|---|---|
| What you are buying | A cold email app that writes one message per prospect, runs follow-ups and sends through inboxes you own. | An email API, SMTP relay and SMS service for transactional and consented marketing mail. |
| Entry price | $49 a month for 1,000 emails, or $294 for the year. | $7 a month for 5,000 emails on Hobby, $35 for 50,000 on Starter. |
| Cold outreach allowed | Yes. It is the purpose of the product. | No. Terms forbid purchased, rented or third-party data and require consent for marketing. |
| Where mail is sent from | Your own Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailbox, on your domain and reputation. | MailerSend's shared infrastructure, with dedicated IPs on Enterprise. |
| Who writes the email | AI drafts a personalized message per recipient that you can edit before sending. | You, your application or its template builder. |
| Follow-up sequences | Up to 5 steps in the same thread, stopping on reply, bounce or unsubscribe. | Not a sequencing tool. Triggers come from your application. |
| Sending limits | A daily cap per inbox with rotation across inboxes, sized for mailbox reputation. | Monthly allowance per step, with extra emails billed per 1,000. |
| Seats | Plan-based, with inbox limits per plan. | 5 on Starter, unlimited on Professional. |
| Free allowance | A new account gets 25 free emails to try, with no card. | 500 emails a month on a free plan that asks for a card. |
ColdMailer figures from coldmailer.ai/pricing. MailerSend figures from mailersend.com/pricing and its terms of use. MailerSend is the better buy for application and consented mail.
What the sending platforms charge at a matched 50,000 emails a month
The cheapest published way to send 50,000 emails a month on each platform, and the meter it bills against. None of these relays permits cold outreach to purchased lists.

How to work out what MailerSend will cost you
Count a month of sends
Pull your sending logs for a normal month and a busy one. MailerSend bills emails sent, so the busy month decides which step you need.
Check the Hobby line first
Below about 23,700 emails a month, Hobby at $7 plus $1.50 per extra 1,000 is cheaper than Starter. Above it, Starter at $35 wins.
Decide whether you need Professional
Pay the $75 or more premium only for unlimited seats or domains, 30 days of activity data, or volume above 1 million a month.
Then choose monthly or yearly
Yearly saves 10% on Starter and Professional and 20% on Hobby, but a wrongly sized yearly plan is not refunded. Run a month on monthly billing first.
How much does MailerSend cost?
MailerSend costs $7 a month for 5,000 emails on Hobby, $35 a month for 50,000 on Starter and $110 a month for 50,000 on Professional. Starter climbs to $600 for 1 million emails and Professional to $1,600 for 2 million. Paying yearly takes 10% off Starter and Professional and 20% off Hobby. The free plan sends 500 emails a month and still asks for a card.
Those numbers come from the plan data behind MailerSend's own pricing slider, which the page fills in with a script, so the static page text alone shows blank prices. The cost per 1,000 emails, the upgrade thresholds and the yearly totals further down are our arithmetic on that data.
| Plan | Monthly price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, card required | 500 emails a month, 1 domain, 1 template, 1-day activity data |
| Hobby | $7.00 ($5.60 yearly) | 5,000 emails, extra emails $1.50 per 1,000 |
| Starter | from $35.00 ($31.50 yearly) | 50,000 emails, 5 seats, 10 domains, 250 templates, 7-day activity data |
| Professional | from $110.00 ($99.00 yearly) | 50,000 emails, unlimited seats, domains and templates, 30-day activity data, account manager |
| Enterprise | Quote | Dedicated IPs for senders above 100,000 emails a week, custom limits |
Billing is in US dollars even when you switch the page to euros or pounds. MailerSend says taxes may apply on top.
MailerSend pricing at every volume step
Starter has five volume steps, from 50,000 to 1 million emails. Professional has seven, from 50,000 to 2 million. Starter stops at 1 million, so a sender above that is moved to Professional whether or not they want the extra features.
| Emails per month | Starter monthly (yearly) | Professional monthly (yearly) |
|---|---|---|
| 50,000 | $35.00 ($31.50) | $110.00 ($99.00) |
| 100,000 | $68.00 ($61.20) | $140.00 ($126.00) |
| 250,000 | $162.50 ($146.25) | $275.00 ($247.50) |
| 500,000 | $325.00 ($292.50) | $525.00 ($472.50) |
| 1,000,000 | $600.00 ($540.00) | $1,000.00 ($900.00) |
| 1,500,000 | Not offered | $1,350.00 ($1,215.00) |
| 2,000,000 | Not offered | $1,600.00 ($1,440.00) |
Yearly prices are the monthly figure less 10%, which is how MailerSend's own pricing script calculates them. Hobby is the exception: $5.60 a month billed as $67.20 a year, a 20% saving against $7, even though the toggle above the cards says "Save 10%".
What is the MailerSend cost per 1,000 emails?
On Starter, MailerSend costs $0.70 per 1,000 emails at 50,000 a month, $0.68 at 100,000 and $0.60 at 1 million. On Professional it costs $2.20 per 1,000 at 50,000 and falls to $0.80 at 2 million. Hobby works out at $1.40 per 1,000 if you use all 5,000 emails.
| Emails per month | Starter per 1,000 | Professional per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|
| 50,000 | $0.70 | $2.20 |
| 100,000 | $0.68 | $1.40 |
| 250,000 | $0.65 | $1.10 |
| 500,000 | $0.65 | $1.05 |
| 1,000,000 | $0.60 | $1.00 |
| 2,000,000 | Not offered | $0.80 |
Starter is close to flat across its range: the unit price only drops by a dime between 50,000 and 1 million. Professional starts expensive and gets steadily cheaper, because what you pay for at the bottom is seats, domains, retention and an account manager rather than volume. At 50,000 emails Professional costs $75 more than Starter. At 1 million the gap is $400.
What does MailerSend charge for extra emails?
Extra emails cost $1.50 per 1,000 on Hobby and $1.30 per 1,000 on the 50,000 and 100,000 steps of both Starter and Professional. Higher steps carry cheaper overage, down to $1.00 on Starter at 1 million and $0.50 on Professional at 2 million. MailerSend keeps sending once you pass your allowance and bills the extra blocks of 1,000.
Overage is always dearer than the plan rate, so the useful number is where moving up a step becomes cheaper than paying for extras. Our arithmetic on the published rates:
| If you are on | Move up once you send more than | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby, $7 | about 23,700 emails a month | Starter 50,000 at $35 |
| Starter 50,000, $35 | about 75,400 emails a month | Starter 100,000 at $68 |
| Starter 100,000, $68 | about 172,700 emails a month | Starter 250,000 at $162.50 |
| Starter 250,000, $162.50 | about 397,700 emails a month | Starter 500,000 at $325 |
| Starter 500,000, $325 | 750,000 emails a month | Starter 1 million at $600 |
The Hobby line matters most for small senders. A product that sends 15,000 emails a month pays $7 plus 10 blocks at $1.50, so $22 on Hobby, which is still cheaper than Starter's $35. At 30,000 a month Hobby comes to $44.50 and Starter wins.
Is MailerSend free?
MailerSend has a free plan with 500 emails a month, 1 sending domain, 1 template, 1 user plus an accountant role, 1 API token and 1 webhook. The plan card lists 1,000 API requests a day while the FAQ says 100, so plan on the lower figure. MailerSend asks for card details even on the free plan, which its FAQ says is to prevent abuse, and it says the free plan is not charged.
There is also a 14-day trial of Professional features. Both are built for testing an integration, not for running production mail: 500 emails a month is about 16 a day. For a business with real volume the decision is between Hobby at $7 and Starter at $35, and the threshold above tells you which.
Two other terms are worth knowing before you pay. MailerSend's terms say refunds are not given if you buy the wrong monthly or yearly plan, even by mistake, so check the volume step before choosing yearly. And the nonprofit discount it offers cannot be stacked with the yearly price.
MailerSend add-ons and what they cost
MailerSend sells extra sending domains at $4.00 each, US and Canada phone numbers for SMS at $2.00 each, longer activity retention from $5.00 and DMARC monitoring at $2.00 per domain. Dedicated IPs are quoted by its team and are reserved for Enterprise accounts that send more than 100,000 emails a week.
| Add-on | Price | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| Domain space | $4.00 per domain | Starter, Professional, Enterprise |
| Phone number (SMS) | $2.00 per number | Starter, Professional, Enterprise |
| Activity data retention | from $5.00, up to 365 days | Paid plans |
| DMARC monitor | $2.00 per domain | Starter, and Professional above 10 domains |
| Dedicated IP | Quote | Enterprise, above 100,000 emails a week |
Plans also carry email verification credits and SMS allowances that grow with the volume step. At 50,000 emails, Starter includes 100 verification credits and 100 SMS, and Professional includes 400 credits and 150 SMS. At 1 million emails the figures are 2,500 credits on both, with 7,000 and 10,000 SMS.
How does MailerSend pricing compare with Resend, SendGrid and Postmark?
At 50,000 emails a month MailerSend Starter costs $35, against $19.95 on SendGrid Essentials, $20 on Resend Pro, $30 on SMTP2GO and $55 on Postmark Basic. At 100,000 a month it costs $68, roughly double Resend Pro and SendGrid Essentials at about $35, and below Postmark's $115 step for 125,000.
| Platform | 50,000 a month | 100,000 a month |
|---|---|---|
| MailerSend Starter | $35.00 | $68.00 |
| Resend Pro | $20.00 | $35.00 |
| SendGrid Essentials | $19.95 | $34.95 |
| SMTP2GO | $30.00 | $75.00 |
| Mailgun | $35.00 (Foundation) | $90.00 (Scale) |
| Postmark Basic | $55.00 | $115.00 for 125,000 |
MailerSend is not the cheapest relay per email. What the price buys is a combined email and SMS account, a drag and drop template builder, inbound routing and 5 seats on Starter. If your mail is purely developer-sent transactional email, Resend and SendGrid are cheaper at these volumes. Detailed breakdowns are on our Resend pricing, SendGrid pricing and Postmark pricing pages.
Can you use MailerSend for cold email?
No. MailerSend's terms say it is not acceptable to send emails to recipients whose data was purchased, rented or acquired from a third party, and marketing email requires the recipient's consent. A cold prospect list fails both tests.
The terms also let MailerSend terminate an account that draws abuse complaints above its allowed level, without a refund. That is the real cost of trying it: a shared relay protects its IP reputation for every other customer, so it closes accounts that put it at risk. SendGrid, Postmark, Mailgun, SMTP2GO and Amazon SES take the same position, which we cover in whether you can use SendGrid for cold email.
Cold outreach goes out from mailboxes you own. A Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inbox on your own domain sends at a human pace, and the reputation it builds is yours. ColdMailer is built for that setup: you connect your inbox, import prospects, and it writes one personalized email per person, runs the follow-ups in the same thread and caps each inbox's daily sends. Our guide to the best SMTP server for cold email compares the mailbox options, and the SMTP email sender page shows how the connection works.
Which buyers MailerSend pricing works well for
SaaS products sending account mail
Password resets, receipts and notifications at 50,000 to 1 million a month fit Starter, with SMS for the same users on the same bill.
Agencies running many client domains
Professional's unlimited domains and seats suit agencies that send for several clients from one account.
Side projects and small apps
Hobby at $7 for 5,000 emails covers a small product, and stays cheaper than Starter up to about 23,700 emails a month.
Teams that want a visual template builder
MailerSend's drag and drop, HTML and rich text builders let non-developers edit templates, which developer-first relays leave to code.
Not a fit for cold outreach
Prospect lists from databases, scraping or LinkedIn fall under the purchased or third-party data the terms forbid. Use mailboxes you own instead.
Not a fit for the lowest unit cost
At 50,000 and 100,000 emails, Resend and SendGrid cost roughly half as much. Pick MailerSend for the SMS and builder, not the price.

Yes. Yearly billing is the default view on the pricing page and takes 10% off Starter and Professional and 20% off Hobby. MailerSend's terms say a plan bought by mistake is not refunded, so confirm your volume step first.

No. MailerSend's terms forbid sending to purchased, rented or third-party data and require consent for marketing email. Cold outreach should go out from a mailbox you own on your own domain, which is how ColdMailer sends.
Not at 50,000 or 100,000 emails. MailerSend Starter is $35 and $68 at those volumes, while SendGrid Essentials is $19.95 and $34.95. MailerSend includes SMS, 5 seats and a template builder in that price.
For outreach the comparison is not another relay but a tool that sends from your own inbox. ColdMailer starts at $49 a month, or $294 a year, connects your Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailbox and writes a personalized email per prospect. A new account gets 25 free emails to try it.
Pricing a relay for cold outreach? Send from your own inbox from $49 a month
ColdMailer connects to the Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailboxes you already own, writes a personalized email for every prospect and runs the follow-ups, so you are not asking a relay to carry mail its terms prohibit. Starter is $49 a month, Pro is $99 and Enterprise is $249, and a new account gets 25 free emails with no credit card required.
