SMTP2GO Pricing Plans and Cost Per Email at Every Monthly Volume

SMTP2GO costs $15 a month for 10,000 emails on Starter and $75 a month for 100,000 on Professional, which includes a dedicated IP. Yearly billing costs ten months. The free plan sends 1,000 emails a month, 200 a day at most. Its terms do not allow cold email, so if outreach is the job, price a tool that sends from your own inbox instead.

Prices read from SMTP2GO's own pricing page, plan data, FAQ and terms. Cost per 1,000 and upgrade thresholds are our arithmetic.

Features

What SMTP2GO actually bills you for

Emails sent, counted per recipient

The meter is volume. Contacts stored, users and API keys are not billed. A message with three recipients uses three emails, so a team that copies people in spends its allowance faster than its message count suggests.

A volume step you pick on a slider

Starter covers the 10,000 and 50,000 steps at $15 and $30. Professional covers 100,000 to one million at $75 to $520. Above 3 million the page moves you to a Premier quote.

Extra emails at a published rate

Go over and a paid plan keeps sending, up to three times the allowance. The rate runs from $1.20 per 1,000 on the smallest plan to $0.50 at one million, so a busy month costs a known amount.

A dedicated IP from 100,000 a month

It is assigned automatically at that volume and is part of the Professional price. There is no separate IP fee on the price list, which is the main reason the unit cost steps up between 50,000 and 100,000.

Support on every paid plan

Ticket, chat and phone support come with Starter as well as Professional. Reporting covers 30 days on paid plans and 5 on free. Subaccounts and scheduled reports are included from Starter.

Yearly billing at ten months

Pay for the year and every step costs ten times its monthly price. The discount is the same 16.7% from the smallest plan to the largest, so the yearly decision does not depend on volume.

Comparison

SMTP2GO and ColdMailer are bought for different jobs

Both put email on the wire, which is why they get compared. SMTP2GO relays mail your systems already generate, to people who expect it. ColdMailer writes and sends first-touch outreach from your own inbox.

Feature ColdMailer SMTP2GO
What you are buying A cold email app that writes one message per prospect, runs follow-ups and sends through inboxes you own. An SMTP relay and API for application, transactional and opt-in mail, with reporting and support.
Entry price $49 a month for 1,000 emails, or $294 for the year. $15 a month for 10,000 emails, or $150 for the year.
Cold outreach allowed Yes. It is the purpose of the product. No. Terms require 100% opt-in lists and forbid unsolicited email.
Where mail is sent from Your own Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailbox, on your domain and reputation. SMTP2GO's servers, on a shared IP below 100,000 a month and a dedicated IP above.
Who writes the email AI drafts a personalized message per recipient that you can edit before sending. You or your application. The relay delivers what it is handed.
Follow-up sequences Up to 5 steps in the same thread, stopping on reply, bounce or unsubscribe. Not a feature. Sequencing lives in whatever system sends through it.
Sending limits A daily cap per inbox with rotation across inboxes, sized for mailbox reputation. Monthly allowance with sending up to three times that at the extra email rate.
Dedicated IP Not applicable. Mail leaves through your mailbox provider. Included from 100,000 emails a month.
Support Email support on every plan. Ticket, chat and phone on paid plans, which is unusually generous for a relay.
Free allowance A new account gets 25 free emails to try, with no card. A free plan with 1,000 emails a month and 200 a day.

ColdMailer figures from coldmailer.ai/pricing. SMTP2GO figures from smtp2go.com/pricing, its FAQ and its terms. SMTP2GO is the better buy for application and opt-in mail at every volume.

How it works

How to work out what SMTP2GO will cost you

Step 01

Count recipients, not messages

Pull a month of sending logs and count every To, Cc and Bcc address. That total is what SMTP2GO meters. Teams that copy a shared mailbox on every notification often find their real number is double the message count.

Step 02

Find your step and the one above it

Pick the smallest step that covers a normal month. Then check the upgrade threshold in the overage table. If your busiest month stays under it, the smaller step plus extra emails is the cheaper way to buy.

Step 03

Decide whether you want the dedicated IP

Under 100,000 a month you are on a shared IP and SMTP2GO recommends it. If you are near that line, weigh $30 plus overage on Starter against $75 on Professional. The difference is the price of your own address.

Step 04

Check the terms against your list

Every list must be opt-in and recently mailed. If any part of your volume is cold outreach, price that part separately on a tool that sends from your own inboxes, and keep the relay for mail people asked for.

How much does SMTP2GO cost?

SMTP2GO costs $15 a month for 10,000 emails on Starter and $75 a month for 100,000 emails on Professional, which adds a dedicated IP address. Paying yearly costs ten months instead of twelve, so $150 and $750. A free plan covers 1,000 emails a month with a cap of 200 a day.

Those are the two prices on the plan cards. The slider above them moves through eight volume steps, and each step has its own price that only appears when you drag to it. The full ladder, read from the plan data the pricing page itself loads, looks like this.

Emails per monthMonthly priceYearly price
1,000 (Free)$0$0
10,000 (Starter)$15$150
50,000 (Starter)$30$300
100,000 (Professional)$75$750
250,000 (Professional)$170$1,700
500,000 (Professional)$280$2,800
1,000,000 (Professional)$520$5,200
3,000,000$900$9,000
5,000,000$1,300$13,000

Two notes on reading it. The slider labels its third stop 40K, while the plan data behind that stop is keyed to 50,000 emails at $30, so confirm the allowance at checkout if you are buying that step. And the page presents everything above 3 million as a custom Premier quote, even though its plan data carries list prices for 3 and 5 million. Treat those two rows as a starting point for a sales conversation.

Why do some sites say SMTP2GO starts at $10 a month?

SMTP2GO's Starter plan is $15 a month, and the $10 figure several pricing roundups quote appears to come from placeholder text in the page's markup. The raw HTML of the pricing page ships with a Starter card reading $10 a month, $100 a year and $1 per thousand extra emails. When the page loads in a browser, its script replaces that card with the live plan data, and the card you actually see says $15 a month, $150 a year and $1.20 per thousand.

The page title says the same thing in plain words, plans from $15 a month. A tool that reads the page without running its script picks up the placeholder instead, which is how $10 ends up in comparison tables. If you are budgeting from a third-party list, check it against the rendered page. The $5 difference is small, but a roundup that got this number wrong has probably not checked the overage rates either.

What is the SMTP2GO cost per 1,000 emails?

SMTP2GO costs $1.50 per 1,000 emails on the 10,000 plan and falls to $0.52 per 1,000 at one million a month. The unit price does not fall in a straight line. It rises from $0.60 to $0.75 between the 50,000 and 100,000 steps, because that is where the dedicated IP joins the plan. The division below is ours.

Emails per monthCost per 1,000 monthlyCost per 1,000 yearly
10,000$1.50$1.25
50,000$0.60$0.50
100,000$0.75$0.63
250,000$0.68$0.57
500,000$0.56$0.47
1,000,000$0.52$0.43
3,000,000$0.30$0.25

The practical reading is that 50,000 a month is the best value point on a shared IP, and that you pay roughly $45 a month for the step up to a dedicated address. SMTP2GO's own FAQ says a shared IP is the better choice below 100,000 emails a month, because a low or uneven volume gives mailbox providers too little to judge a dedicated address by. So the bump is not a penalty. You are buying something you only want once the volume is there.

What does SMTP2GO charge for extra emails?

SMTP2GO charges $1.20 per 1,000 extra emails on the 10,000 plan, $1.00 on the 50,000 step and $0.85 on Professional at 100,000, falling to $0.50 at one million. You can send up to three times your monthly allowance before sending stops, and the free plan allows no extra emails at all.

Plan stepExtra emails per 1,000Cheaper to upgrade above
10,000 at $15$1.2022,500 emails
50,000 at $30$1.0095,000 emails
100,000 at $75$0.85211,800 emails
250,000 at $170$0.70407,100 emails
500,000 at $280$0.60900,000 emails
1,000,000 at $520$0.501,760,000 emails

The third column is our arithmetic. It is the monthly volume at which the plan fee plus overage equals the price of the next step up. Below it, staying put and paying overage is cheaper. Above it, upgrade.

One detail is unusual. On the 10,000 plan the overage rate ($1.20 per 1,000) is lower than the plan's own unit price ($1.50 per 1,000). A sender who needs 20,000 emails pays $27 on the 10,000 plan with overage and $30 on the 50,000 step. Most relays price overage as a penalty. SMTP2GO, at the bottom of its ladder, does not.

An email addressed to several recipients counts once per recipient. A message to one address with two on copy uses three emails from the allowance.

Is SMTP2GO free?

SMTP2GO has a free plan with 1,000 emails a month, limited to 200 emails a day and to 25 an hour until you verify your sending domain. It includes 5 days of reporting and ticket support, with phone and chat for the first two weeks. It has no time limit and needs no credit card.

Signing up takes a work address at a domain you control, since public addresses such as Gmail and Yahoo are refused, and a phone number that can receive a verification code by text. The free plan cannot buy extra emails, so 1,000 is a hard ceiling. It is enough to wire up a contact form or test an integration. It is not enough to run a product on.

Paid plans come with a 30 day refund promise stated on the pricing page and repeated in the terms. The same terms reserve the right to change fees without advance warning, which matters if you are signing a yearly plan to lock a price.

How does SMTP2GO pricing compare with SendGrid, Mailgun and Postmark?

At 10,000 emails a month SMTP2GO, Postmark and Mailgun all charge $15, and SendGrid's smallest paid plan is $19.95. At 100,000 a month SMTP2GO is $75 with a dedicated IP included, against $90 for Mailgun Scale and $89.95 for SendGrid Pro with theirs. SendGrid and Resend are cheaper at 100,000 if a shared IP is fine.

Provider10,000 emails100,000 emails
SMTP2GO$15.00$75.00 (dedicated IP)
Amazon SES$1.00$10.00
SendGrid$19.95 (50K plan)$34.95 shared, $89.95 dedicated
Mailgun$15.00$90.00 (dedicated IP)
Postmark$15.00$115.00 (125K step)
Resend$20.00 (50K plan)$35.00

Competitor figures come from each vendor's own pricing page, as worked through on our SendGrid pricing, Mailgun pricing, Postmark pricing, Resend pricing and Amazon SES pricing pages. Where a provider has no plan at exactly that volume, the table uses the smallest plan that covers it.

So SMTP2GO is not the cheapest relay at any volume, because nothing beats Amazon SES on unit price. Its case is different. It is the cheapest of the managed relays that bundles a dedicated IP at 100,000, it answers the phone on every paid plan, and its bottom tier forgives a busy month better than the others do.

Can you use SMTP2GO for cold email?

No. SMTP2GO's terms forbid unsolicited email of any kind and require every mailing list to be 100% opt-in. The terms name purchased lists, addresses collected from the internet and marketing leads, including lists built through LinkedIn or obtained from a third party, as lists you may not send to.

That rules out cold outreach as a use, however carefully it is done. The terms also ask that list members have been mailed within the previous three months and say bounce rates are monitored, so a cold list that slips through tends to surface quickly. An account closed for cause is the expensive outcome here, more than any line on the price ladder.

This is normal for a relay. SendGrid, Postmark, Mailgun and Amazon SES all take the same position, and we cover the detail in whether you can use SendGrid for cold email. Relays share IP reputation across customers, so they protect it.

Cold outreach belongs on mailboxes you own. A Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inbox on a domain you control sends over its own SMTP at a human volume, and your reputation is yours alone. That is the setup ColdMailer is built around: you connect the inbox, import a list, and it writes one message per prospect, runs the follow-ups and caps each inbox's daily sends. Our guide to the best SMTP server for cold email compares the mailbox options, and the SMTP email sender page shows how the connection works.

Use cases

Which buyers SMTP2GO pricing works well for

1

Small businesses relaying office and device mail

Scanners, line-of-business apps and website forms that need a dependable outbound server. The 10,000 plan at $15 covers it, and phone support is there when a copier stops sending.

2

IT providers managing many clients

Subaccounts are included from Starter, so one account can hold separate clients with their own reporting. Volume pools across them, which keeps the per-client cost low.

3

SaaS products with steady transactional volume

Receipts, resets and notifications between 50,000 and 500,000 a month sit in the cheapest part of the ladder per email, with predictable overage in a launch month.

4

Senders who want a dedicated IP without a separate fee

At 100,000 a month the address is part of the $75 plan. On several rivals it is an add-on or needs a higher tier, so compare the all-in figure, not the entry price.

5

Teams with uneven months

Sending up to three times the allowance at a published rate suits seasonal businesses. You size the plan for a normal month and pay for the peak only when it happens.

6

Not for outbound sales teams

A prospect list is not an opt-in list, and the terms say so directly. Sales teams should send from their own mailboxes with a cold email tool and leave the relay to the product.

FAQ

SMTP2GO pricing FAQ

SMTP2GO costs $15 a month for 10,000 emails on Starter, $30 at the 50,000 step and $75 a month for 100,000 emails on Professional with a dedicated IP. Higher steps are $170 for 250,000, $280 for 500,000 and $520 for one million. Yearly billing costs ten months, so $150, $300 and $750 for the first three.

Yes, SMTP2GO has a free plan with no time limit and no credit card. It includes 1,000 emails a month, capped at 200 a day and 25 an hour until you verify a sending domain, with 5 days of reporting. You cannot buy extra emails on it, so 1,000 is the ceiling.

On a paid plan SMTP2GO keeps sending and bills the extra emails at your plan's rate, from $1.20 per 1,000 on the 10,000 plan down to $0.50 at one million. You can send up to three times your monthly allowance. On the free plan, sending stops at 1,000 emails.

SMTP2GO assigns a dedicated IP address automatically once your plan allows at least 100,000 emails a month, which means Professional at $75 and above. Below that volume its FAQ recommends a shared IP, and above 500,000 a month it recommends a pool of dedicated addresses.

SMTP2GO is cheaper than SendGrid at 10,000 emails a month, $15 against $19.95, and cheaper at 100,000 when you want a dedicated IP, $75 against $89.95 on SendGrid Pro. SendGrid is cheaper at 100,000 on a shared IP, where Essentials is $34.95.

Yes. Yearly billing on SMTP2GO costs ten times the monthly price, which the pricing page describes as two months free. That is a 16.7% discount at every step, so Starter becomes $12.50 a month and Professional at 100,000 emails becomes $62.50 a month.

SMTP2GO promises a full refund if you ask within the first 30 days, and its terms repeat the commitment. You can cancel at any time after that and remain liable only for charges up to the cancellation date.

No. SMTP2GO's terms prohibit unsolicited email and require lists to be fully opt-in, naming purchased lists, scraped addresses and LinkedIn-built lead lists as not allowed. Cold outreach should go through mailboxes you own, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, connected to a cold email tool.

SMTP2GO counts one email per recipient. A message sent to one address with two more on copy uses three emails from your monthly allowance. Inbound mail is not part of the published allowance.

ColdMailer is $49 a month for 1,000 emails on Starter, $99 for 5,000 on Pro and $249 for 25,000 on Enterprise, with follow-ups counted as emails. It costs more per email than a relay because it does a different job: it writes each cold email, runs the sequence and sends through your own inbox. A new account gets 25 free emails to try.

Pricing a relay for cold outreach? Send from your own inbox from $49 a month

ColdMailer connects to the Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailboxes you already own, writes a personalized email for every prospect and runs the follow-ups, so you are not asking a relay to carry mail its terms prohibit. Starter is $49 a month, Pro is $99 and Enterprise is $249, and a new account gets 25 free emails with no credit card required.
