Reply.io vs Instantly Pricing: Cost Per Contact at Every Volume

Reply.io meters active contacts and charges per user below 10,000 of them. Instantly meters emails and credits and never charges per seat. Which is cheaper depends entirely on how many people log in and how long your sequences run.

Reply.io starts at $49 per user per month on a yearly commitment and meters active contacts. Instantly starts at $85 a month on a yearly commitment, meters emails and credits as two separate products, and does not charge per user at all. Those two sentences explain most of the disagreement you will find in comparison articles: the tools are not priced on the same thing, so the cheaper one changes depending on how many people log in and how long your sequences are.

Both sets of figures below were read from reply.io/pricing and instantly.ai/pricing on 8 September 2026. Prices move, so check the vendor pages before you commit to a year.

The headline numbers

PlanMonthlyYearly, per month
Reply.io Email Volume, 1,000 contacts$59 per user$49 per user
Reply.io Email Volume, 5,000 contacts$99 per user$89 per user
Reply.io Email Volume, 10,000 contacts$179, unlimited users$159, unlimited users
Instantly Starter$94$85
Instantly Scale$194$175
Instantly Agency$555$500

Reply.io's Email Volume plan is a slider rather than a set of tiers. It runs across eleven contact volumes from 1,000 up to 500,000, and the last three of those show contact sales instead of a price. Instantly's ladder is three bundles, each of which is an outreach plan and a credits plan sold together.

The two meters, in plain terms

Reply.io charges by active contacts. An active contact is one unique person you send a first step email to inside a billing month, and every follow up to that person in the same month is free. A five touch sequence to 3,000 prospects consumes 3,000 active contacts, not 15,000 emails.

Instantly charges by emails sent and, separately, by credits for its lead database and enrichment. Starter allows 5,000 emails a month, 1,000 uploaded contacts and 1,500 credits. Scale raises that to 100,000 emails, 25,000 contacts and 5,000 credits. Agency reaches 500,000 emails, 100,000 contacts and 10,000 credits. Email accounts and warmup are unlimited on all three.

Convert one to the other before you compare anything. On a four step cadence, Instantly's 5,000 email Starter plan carries roughly 1,250 prospects a month. On a two step cadence it carries 2,500. Reply.io's number does not move with cadence at all, which is the single biggest structural difference between them.

Which is cheaper at your workload

Here is the comparison done honestly, at a four step cadence, on yearly billing.

WorkloadReply.ioInstantly
1 user, 1,000 new prospects a month$49 a month$85 a month
1 user, 5,000 new prospects a month$89 a month$175 a month
3 users, 5,000 new prospects a month$267 a month$175 a month
3 users, 10,000 new prospects a month$159 a month$175 a month

Read the third and fourth rows together, because that is where the interesting thing happens. Reply.io goes down from $267 to $159 when the team doubles its contact volume. That is not a typo.

The Reply.io seat break at 10,000 contacts

Reply.io meters seats on the first four steps of its Email Volume slider and stops metering them from 10,000 active contacts upward. The unit label under the price changes from per user per month to unlimited users per month at exactly that step, and nothing on the page announces it.

So for any team of two or more, the larger plan is the cheaper plan:

Seats5,000 contacts, yearly10,000 contacts, yearly
1 user$89 a month$159 a month
2 users$178 a month$159 a month
3 users$267 a month$159 a month
5 users$445 a month$159 a month

A five person team sitting on the 5,000 contact step is spending $445 a month where $159 buys them twice the allowance and the same features. That is $3,432 a year of seat tax. The same inversion holds on monthly billing, where two seats at 5,000 contacts cost $198 against $179 for unlimited users at 10,000.

If you already pay Reply.io and you have more than one login, open your billing page before you read any further. This is the cheapest thing on this page to act on.

Instantly's bundle price is exactly its two standalone plans added together

Instantly sells each bundle as an outreach plan plus a credits plan, and you can also buy either product on its own. On monthly billing the bundle price is the exact sum of the two standalone cards, to the dollar, at all three tiers. That identity is worth knowing before you talk to anyone about a discount, because it tells you precisely what you are being charged for.

BundleMonthly priceThe two standalone plans it equals
Starter$94 a monthGrowth Plan $47 plus Growth Credits $47
Scale$194 a monthHypergrowth $97 plus Supersonic Credits $97
Agency$555 a monthLightspeed $358 plus Hyper Credits $197

The practical use of that table is diagnostic. If you need 100,000 emails a month but only 1,500 credits, the Scale bundle is charging you $97 for a credit tier you will not touch. Buying the outreach plan on its own and staying on the smaller credit plan is the cheaper route, and the standalone cards exist precisely so you can do that. Price both routes rather than assuming the bundle is the discount it looks like.

One caveat on the yearly column, because it is where published comparisons go wrong. Instantly advertises "Save 10%" on the bundles and shows $85, $175 and $500. It does not publish a yearly price for the standalone outreach and credit plans anywhere on the pricing page, so nobody can tell you from public information whether buying separately still wins once both sides are annualized. Any article that prints a precise yearly figure for a standalone Instantly plan has calculated it from an assumed discount rate rather than read it. Put both routes in the cart and read the checkout total.

One genuine inconsistency is worth flagging while you are checking. Instantly's Scale bundle details panel lists the Hypergrowth outreach plan at $358 a month, while the standalone Hypergrowth card on the same page says $97. The $358 figure matches Lightspeed, the tier above, so it looks like a copy error rather than a second price. This kind of thing is exactly why comparison articles about the same vendor disagree with each other.

What each one is actually good at

Reply.io wins when you are one or two people, your cadences are long, and you want LinkedIn and phone in the same timeline as email. The free follow ups reward long sequences, and the multichannel timeline is genuinely well built. It also wins outright on price for a solo operator at low volume: $49 against $85.

Instantly wins when you have a team. It does not meter seats at all, so the third and fifth login cost nothing, and unlimited email accounts with unlimited warmup on the entry plan is a real advantage for anyone running many inboxes. It also wins when your cadence is short, because you are buying emails rather than contacts.

Neither wins on total cost of ownership once add ons enter the picture. Reply.io charges $69 a month per LinkedIn account and $29 per user for calling, plus a separate AI credit pool that runs from $39 to $599 a month and a validation meter from $20 to $600. Instantly folds its credits into the bundle but caps them, so heavy enrichment pushes you up a tier you did not need for sending volume. Total the add ons you will genuinely use in month one and compare those numbers, not the plan prices.

The question neither pricing page answers

Both of these tools want to be the place your list lives, your data comes from and your mail goes out. That is a reasonable product to sell, and if you need all three it is convenient. It is also why both bills grow in ways that have nothing to do with how much mail you actually send: a seat here, a credit pool there, a validation meter, a LinkedIn account.

If email is the only channel you need and you already have mailboxes, the whole structure is overhead. ColdMailer sends cold sequences through Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or any SMTP mailboxes you already own, so the sending reputation stays yours, and it does not meter seats or mailboxes at all. Starter is $29 a month, Pro is $49 with unlimited sending mailboxes, AI personalization, warmup and LinkedIn lead scraping, and Enterprise is $149 with dedicated IPs and API access. Every plan runs a 14 day trial with no credit card.

Whichever of the three you land on, the number to judge it by is cost per booked meeting rather than cost per month, and outbound is usually one line in a budget that also carries paid channels. Putting all of that spend on a single marketing dashboard is what makes the comparison across channels honest, because a $49 tool that books nothing is more expensive than a $500 one that fills a calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Is Reply.io cheaper than Instantly?

For a single user at low volume, yes: Reply.io is $49 a month on yearly billing against Instantly's $85. For a team, no. Reply.io meters seats below 10,000 active contacts, so three users cost $267 a month at the 5,000 contact step, while Instantly does not charge per user at all and stays at $175 for Scale.

Does Instantly charge per user?

No. Instantly's bundles are priced on emails sent, uploaded contacts and credits, with unlimited email accounts and unlimited warmup on every tier. Adding a teammate does not change the bill. That is the structural difference that decides most Reply.io versus Instantly comparisons once more than one person is involved.

How many emails does Instantly Starter allow?

Instantly Starter allows 5,000 emails a month, 1,000 uploaded contacts and 1,500 credits, at $94 a month or $85 billed yearly. On a four step cadence that carries roughly 1,250 new prospects a month. On a two step cadence it carries about 2,500, because the meter counts emails rather than people.

Do either of them have a free plan?

Neither publishes a permanently free tier. Reply.io offers a free trial on its Email Volume plan and a 14 day trial on Multichannel. Instantly's cheapest published plan is Starter. Comparison articles that list a free Reply.io plan appear to be reading the trial button as a plan.

Which is better for an agency running client inboxes?

Instantly Agency at $500 a month yearly covers 500,000 emails, 100,000 contacts and 10,000 credits with unlimited inboxes and no seat fees. Reply.io Agency Core starts at $210 a month with multi workspace structure, unlimited clients and users and white label as an option, but LinkedIn is $69 per account on top and the plan routes to a sales call rather than a checkout.

For the full ladder on either tool, including the steps above 10,000 contacts and the add on pricing, see our Reply.io pricing breakdown, our Reply.io alternatives comparison and the Instantly alternatives page. If you are still deciding which pricing model suits your workload, how cold email software pricing works walks through per seat, per email and per contact billing side by side.
