Never send cold email from your primary company domain. Register lookalike domains instead (getbrand.com, brandhq.com, try-brand.com) so a reputation problem stays contained on a domain you can retire. Two rules matter more than the exact numbers. First, spread mailboxes across several domains rather than piling them onto one, because reputation damage is scoped to a domain and you want blast radius to be small. Run the numbers on a 1,000 a day setup and the shape of the bill becomes obvious. Say 40 mailboxes across 15 domains. Domains cost about $165 a year, call it $14 a month. Prewarmed SMTP servers and what they actually buy you

A prewarmed SMTP server or prewarmed mailbox is an account that has already been through a warm-up period before it is handed to you, so it can start carrying campaign volume sooner than one you create today. The value is time. The limit is that reputation is built by the mail you send, so a prewarmed account only stays healthy if the sending that follows is well behaved.

Warm-up itself works by generating conversation on a new mailbox: messages sent, opened, replied to and pulled out of spam folders, at gradually increasing volume, so the account has engagement history before it contacts strangers.
